Jury finds ex-Marine guilty in fatal shootings in American Sniper trial

A jury in Texas on Tuesday found Eddie Ray Routh guilty of capital murder in the fatal shootings two years ago of two men, including Chris Kyle, author of the best-selling book "American Sniper." Judge Jason Cashon sentenced Routh, who was portrayed by the defense as insane, to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The trial of Routh in Stephenville, Texas, took place in the wake of the release of the film about Kyle, a former Navy SEAL who claimed to be the deadliest sniper in U.S. history with 160 confirmed kills in Iraq.
"American Sniper" has become the all-time highest-grossing war movie.
Routh, an unemployed former Marine reportedly diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, was tried in the killing of Kyle and Kyle's friend, Chad Littlefield, at a firing range at Rough Creek Lodge, about 90 miles southwest of Dallas on Feb. 2, 2013.
