Kaluga region police identify suspect in tourists attack case

Police in the town of Tarusa, Kaluga region, found the car in which a group of attackers had come to a recreation centre to beat up a party of tourists last weekend, and identified the car owner. "We've found the car and established the identity of its owner. The car belongs to a woman," local police spokeswoman Svetlana Somova told Itar-Tass on Monday. Somova said the conflict had occurred over a woman attracting the suspected mastermind behind the attack. At around 05:00, Moscow time, a man reported to the Tarussky police station a fight at the recreation centre. "A group of five to seven men forced their way into one of the cottages and started a fight," the official said. The police officers reported from the scene of the conflict that a group of holiday-makers had quarreled with a recreation centre employee. Twelve people asked for medical assistance. One man had a serious jaw injury, a police officer said. The suspected mastermind is one of the recreation centre managers. He denied his guilt, insisting that he had been drunk and could not remember anything. He also denied knowing the attackers.
