Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai in a telephone call he made this morning to Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, discussed issues of common interest between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The official 'Radio Pakistan' quoted officials as saying that President Karzai stressed during the telephonic conversation, the importance of the role to be played by Pakistan for the success of the national reconciliation in Afghanistan. The Radio said President Karzai described as "useful and constructive" his meetings with Pakistani political leaders during his last week's visit to Islamabad. For his part, Gilani reiterated Pakistan's support for on-going efforts to bring about security and stability in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Pakistani (information) media reported that Afghanistan's President briefed the Pakistani Prime Minister, on his recent telephonic talks with U.S. President Barack Obama.
