Kenyan president meets Qatar's RAF's deputy board chairman

Kenyan president Mwai Kibaki, met here on Wednesday with HE Sheikh Khalid bin Thani Al Thani, the Deputy Board Chairman of Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) on the occasion of his current visit to Kenya to lay the foundation stone for the RAF International University (RIU) in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. At the outset of the meeting, president Mwai Kibaki expressed deep thanks and appreciation to the leadership, the government and people of Qatar hailing the RAF-adopted humanitarian projects in KENYA and wished that RAF adopts similar projects in the kenyan health sector and promised he would remove whatever obstacles that could hinder such vital projects in his country. president Mwai Kibaki also praised the RAF International University which would serve kenya and the east african countries as well and underlined his keenness to further enhance the qatari-kenyan relations . RAF International University, he said would contribute to further boost ties of cooperation between qatar and kenya in particular and between qatar and the middle and eastern african countries in general. For his part, HE Sheikh Khalid bin Thani Al Thani said that the RAF International University, which works closely with international research Institutions, adopts modern scientific methods and advanced technology with a focus on the principles and values of the Alliance of Civilizations, human rights and cohabitation between various cultures. The new university woud deepen the close relations between qatar and Kenya and stressed the ability of the said university to graduate well-efficient, scientific and academic cadres capable of coping with the global progress and the sustainable development across the world, HE Sheikh Khalid bin Thani Al Thani said. The Deputy Board Chairman of Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) and Hon Raila Odinga, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya have jointly laid the foundation stone for the RAF International University (RIU) in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, earlier today. The foundation stone-laying ceremony was attended by a number of key Kenyan government and parliamentary officials, highly ranked leaders in the Islamic Educational institutions and leaders from Qatari civil society organizations.(
