
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, currently in New York, received on Thursday a phone call from US Secretary of State John Kerry who invited him for a meeting to discuss a number of regional issues and bilateral relations.
"The US secretary of state invited his Egyptian counterpart for a meeting in Washington on Friday to discuss the Syrian and Libyan crises ahead of two high profile meetings in Vienna on Syria on May 17 and on Libya on May 16," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
The two sides also discussed bilateral relations, the spokesman said, adding that they agreed to follow up in the coming meeting ways to boost ties in a way that serves their joint interests.
