Kerry voices appreciation for president Sisi

US Secretary of State John Kerry has expressed appreciation over cooperation shown by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi with regard to security issues.
In his testimony before the Appropriations Committee of the US House of Representatives on Wednesday, Kerry said that he met several times with President Sisi and he has a good work relationship with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
Egypt provides a tremendous assistance in fighting against terrorism, Kerry said.
Kerry also reiterated that Egypt was making great efforts in the war against terrorism in Sinai.
Kerry praised a role played by Egypt in the Middle East peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.
The US administration will release soon more financial assistance to Egypt, Kerry expects.
He noted that the US clearly understood pressures, under which President Sisi works and difficulties facing Egypt’s judiciary.
Egypt, as a main partner, is committed to fight against terrorism, Kerry said.
Kerry has acknowledged that the US influence has been reducing in Egypt, referring to the assistance provided by Saudi Arabia and the UAE to Egypt.
He also referred to a visit paid by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Egypt and an arms deal signed between Egypt and Russia.
