Kidnapped Indian aid worker freed in Herat

An Indian aid worker who was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen eight months before in western Herat Province has been freed, Khaama Press reported Monday.
Yesterday, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi before this news popped up tweeted “Will soon share some good news with all of you.”
This tweet was soon followed by two other tweets “Delighted at securing the release of Indian Jesuit priest Father from captivity in Afghanistan.” And “Have spoken to Father Alexis Prem Kumar. Informed happy family of Father Alexis Prem Kumar of his safe return after 8 months in captivity.”
It is still unknown as who the kidnappers were and how the release was secured or whether there is a ransom involved.
India’s foreign ministry has only stated in a statement that “The matter of his release has been pursued by our leadership, including at the highest levels the Prime Minister.”
Alex Prem Kumar, 47 year old, also a priest was visiting a school in Herat city when kidnapped by unidentified gunmen at the beginning of June last year.
Alex Prem Kumar had been working with Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) for four years in Afghanistan before he was kidnapped last year.
He was serving as the Director of JRS international educational charity organization for Afghanistan.
Alex Prem Kumar before rejoining his family in India has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi saved him.
