King Abdullah of Jordan discusses regional affairs with Prince Charles

King Abdullah II of Jordan discussed regional matters and bilateral relations with the visiting Prince Charles of Wales on Sunday.
Their talks on regional developments delved into efforts being assumed to tackle terrorism and fundamentalist organisations that threaten international peace and security, read a Jordanian Royal Court statement.
In this regard, King Abdullah said that people of the region are waging a war against terrorist organisations in the aim of safeguarding the faith of Islam and human morals and principles.
These goals require further efforts from all regional and global sides, he was quoted as saying following the encounter.
For his part, the heir apparent to the British throne ensured his nation's support of Jordan amid its current circumstances and its efforts in tackling terror.
Amid discussions on Syria, King Abdullah referred to huge efforts that are being carried out by Jordan in dealing with the political crisis, and its humanitarian and relief services extended to Syrian refugees.
On this, he reiterated the need for the international community to increase its support for Jordan.
In the presence of attending Muslim and Christian community leaders, both monarchs also stressed the need to address challenges standing in the path of peace and security, through boosting inter-faith cooperation.
Furthermore, Secretary of State for International Development Justine Greening announced further British assistance worth GBP 100 million (USD 152.5 million) to aid Jordan in tending to the needs of Syrian refugees.
Announcing the assistance the attending minister said, "almost four years since the start of the crisis, thousands of families are still unable to return home and are in need of our support.
"The UK's new GBP 100 million pledge will ensure Syrian refugees and host communities in countries like Jordan can continue to receive food, water and shelter while shoring up stretched public services." Prince Charles, who arrived in Amman on Saturday, is set to head to Kuwait next amid a tour which also includes Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
