His Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday instructed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mashaal Mohammad Zaben to take the necessary measures to support Jordan's military field hospital in Gaza (Gaza 21) currently operating in the Palestinian territory. The measure aims to facilitate the hospital's mission to provide much-needed medical aid to victims of the Israeli offensive. Since its deployment in 2009, the hospital has treated up to one million Gazans and its surgical units conducted about 16,000 major and minor operations. King Abdullah also ordered the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization JHCO to send urgent humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in the besieged enclave who are living in difficult humanitarian conditions due to the continued Israeli aggression, blockade and closure of border crossings. According to JHCO Secretary General Ayman Mifleh, the organization had over the past years sent 365 aid convoys to the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
