His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday received UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres , who is currently on a visit to the Kingdom to check on conditions of Syrian refugees in the Kingdom. The King reviewed humanitarian and relief services provided by Jordan to the refugees in cooperation with international organizations, pointing to the pressure they place on the Kingdom's resources. His Majesty urged the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards the Syrian refugees in light of the increasing number of refugees fleeing their country. At the meeting, which was attended by Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and Director of the King's Office Imad Fakhoury, the King stressed the need for further efforts and coordination among UN organizations concerned with refugees to address this issue. Guterres voiced appreciation of services provided by Jordan to the refugees, urging international bodies to support the Kingdom to enable it to continue its humanitarian aid to the displaced Syrians.
