
King Abdullah II of Jordan met today with US Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt, to discuss efforts for re-launching the peace process.King Abdullah stressed the importance of the US role in ending the deadlock in the peace process and re-launching serious and direct negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis on the basis of the two-state solution as the only way to end the conflict. The King added that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state would achieve security and stability for the whole region.
Jordan's Petra News Agency reported today that Greenblatt for his part said that achieving peace between the Palestinians and Israelis will have a positive impact on the region, underlining the importance of Jordan's role, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, in pushing forward efforts to reach peace between the two sides.
