Korean parliamentary delegation visits lower house

A South Korean parliamentary delegation on Thursday visited the lower house of Parliament, where it was briefed on Jordanian legislative experiment and regional developments. The delegation separately met with Chairman of Labor and Social Development Committee Abdul Karim Abul Haija and Chairman of the Health and Environment Committee Mutasim Awamleh. The two sides discussed bilateral ties and means to bolster them in various technological, economic and cultural domains. Abul Haija said that Jordan, which part of the Arab world, has been affected by the regional changes and developments, pointing the Jordanian popular movements which call for reform. The lawmaker highlighted the Parliament’s role in solving some conflicts between laborers and employers serving the national interests. Awamleh, on the other hand, thanked Korea for its support to Jordan, noting the deep bonds linking the two Asian nations. He voiced hope for Korea to support Jordan with advanced medical equipment needed by healthcare sectors across the Kingdom. The Korean delegation talked about water challenges facing the Kingdom, expressing readiness to help Jordan develop the needed technology to create renewable energy and create jobs for Jordanians. The visit marks the 50th anniversary of bilateral ties and cooperation between Jordan and Korea.
