Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not confirm reports on Friday that President Vladimir Putin would take part in the Russian Geographical Society’s expedition to Crimea.
"No, I cannot confirm this information," Peskov said.
Izvestia daily reported earlier on Friday that Putin in August would join an expedition to explore the Great Silk Road sites on the Crimean peninsula and ancient ships on the bottom of the Black Sea.
Peskov said on Wednesday that Putin, the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Geographical Society (RGO), would take part in one of the RGO expeditions in August but gave no details of the trip.
