The Kremlin has not received mass applications of Israeli nationals to be granted Russian citizenship, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
"The administration [of Kremlin] has no such applications, we hear about this for the first time," Peskov told reporters.
The Kremlin spokesman commented on media reports that some 40,000 Jews who left Crimea after the collapse of the Soviet Union have allegedly asked President Vladimir Putin to obtain Russian citizenship.
According to the reports, these emigrants actively supported the idea of holding a referendum in Crimea in March 2014 and then submitted documents for being granted Russian citizenship, but their applications were rejected.
