
The Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) Wednesday announced Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) won 38 seats in Kurdistan region parliament in the final results of the elections that took place last month. The Chief of IHEC office Serbst Mustafa said in a press conference held in Erbil, "KDP won 38 seats by 743,984 votes." Change Movement (Gorran) came the second with 24 seats followed by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) with 18 with 350,500 votes and Islamists collectively won 17 seats. The Islamic Union won 10 seats with 176,841 votes, the Islamic group of Kurdistan got six seats with 180,574 votes and the Islamist movement, one seat with 21,834 votes. The Kurdistan Socialist Party got one seat with 12,501 votes while the Freedom (Communist) Party got one seat with 12,392 votes, and Al Etejah Al Thaleth got one seat with 8,681 votes.
