Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah called here Wednesday for supporting Arab efforts to address the situation in Syria, and to bring back security and stability to this Arab country.Speaking to KUNA ahead of leaving Cairo after attending an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers on Syria, the Kuwaiti official hailed the meeting as "fruitful", saying that the conferees had listened to a relevant report read out by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem in his capacity as head of the current session of the ministerial council. The report elaborated on the findings of recent meetings of an Arab committee - tasked with the discussion of the Syrian situation - with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in Damascus, and its meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Al-Muallem in Doha, as well as a roadmap for an end to the situation in Syria, he said.In this context, he lauded Syria's acceptance of the Arab roadmap, which provides for a cessation of violence in Syria, releasing prisoners, clearing Syrian cities of all armed manifestations and allowing Arab and foreign mass media and Arab organizations to see the situation on the ground in Syria, he added.Under the plan, the committee will be in touch with the Syrian government and opposition forces to make preparations for a national dialogue conference, the Kuwaiti deputy prime minister and foreign minister told KUNA.The Syrian government's commitment to the Arab roadmap will spare the country more bloodshed, he pointed out.
