
The State of Kuwait delegation, taking part in the 46th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission, presented on Thursday a report jointly prepared with ESCWA regarding the World Bank report that tackles updating statistical studies on families' living standards post 2015.
Maryam Al-Aqeel, the Director General of Kuwait's Central Statistical Bureau and head of the Kuwaiti delegation, told KUNA the report, worked out by Kuwait and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), included recommendations that had been endorsed by ESCWA's social-economic commission, with emphasis on necessity of upgrading "technical support and potentials to improve the level of acceptable living standards." The UN commission members discussed crime statistics, UN reports on drugs and crime and a Mexican report on statistics and geography.
Al-Aqeel indicated that the Kuwaiti delegation expressed some remarks in this regard.
The meeting, held at the UN headquarters, got underway on Tuesday, with participation of a delegation representing Kuwait's Central Statistical Bureau. The gathering is held under the theme, "better data, better lives." The Kuwaiti delegation includes Assistant Undersecretary of the Statistics Work sector Muna Al-Da'aas, Director General of Commercial, Agriculture, and Services Statistics Khalda Al-Kharraz, and Ibtisam Al-Rabah, the Supervisor of Economic Statics in the Statistical Bureau.
Established in 1946, UN Statistical Commission is a functional commission of the UN Economic and Social Council. It oversees the work of the United Nations Statistics Division.
