Kuwait Premier: Indian-Kuwaiti relations to witness boom

Relations between Kuwait and India will certainly develop in the few coming years, His Highness the Prime of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah announced here on Friday. "I am sure the coming few years will witness boom in the ties between us and there are many and new sectors that warrant bolstering and broadening the cooperation, particularly as we diligently act to transform Kuwait into a regional-international financial and commercial center," His Highness the Prime Minister said. Kuwait could make use of the pioneering Indian expertise in modern technology and other realms, added HH the Prime Minister, during a banquet held by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, honoring the Premier and his accompanying delegation of senior Kuwaiti officials. The visit by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to India in 2006 signaled start of a new chapter in the relations between the two countries, and "we sensed its outcome today during the two discussions with Your Excellency, which were held in a cordial atmosphere that reflected depth of these ties," stated His Highness the Premier during the formal dinner, addressing his Indian counterpart and the present Indian officials. "Here we are moving forward on the path of boosting future ties, based on friendliness, mutual respect and keenness on interests of the two friendly countries, as well as understanding of ramifications of the current stage of the modern world," His Highness added, asserting keenness to capitalize on results of His Highness the Amir visit to New Delhi. Deeply thanking the Indian side for the warm hospitality, HH the Premier affirmed that his visit to the nation depicted Kuwait's sincere desire to cement the historic relations that date back to many years ago. "We in Kuwait are deeply proud of the solid ties and constructive cooperation and distinctive ties that have bonded it with the Republic of India for many years; such ties have grown due to the two countries' keenness on bolstering them," he said. Kuwait has recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of enacting the National Constitution "and we boast of abiding by it and seek to examine your long democratic experience which ranks in lead among experience of the world nations, he said, noting that this experience "is one of the highest for it secures for the friendly Indian people a stable and deep-rooted democratic life," HH Sheikh Jaber Mubarak added. His Highness noted that India and Kuwaiti have attracted merchants from the two countries since a long time ago and trade cooperation has grown with the time. "Today we aspire to realise higher levels of cooperation and coordination to elevate the ties to the level of the historic relations and aspirations of our two friendly peoples," he added. HH Sheikh Jaber Mubarak boasted that the Indian community is the largest one among the expatriate communities in Kuwait, noting their noticeable contributions particularly in the private sector
