Iranian Foreign Ministry official Hossein Amirabdollahian said Kuwaiti officials have promised to work to release a number of Iranians detained in that country in the near future. He hoped that the promise would be materialized soon. Amirabdollahian who serves as the ministry’s deputy for the Middle East and Africa Affairs referred to the release of two Kuwaiti nationals by Iran on Saturday. Referring to his recent meeting with Kuwaiti foreign minister, the diplomat reiterated that he had declared that it was not acceptable for Iran to see a number of its citizens detained in Kuwait for a long time on baseless allegations. He said the release of the two Kuwaiti nationals was an initiative to encourage Kuwaiti officials to behave the same way towards imprisoned Iranians in Kuwait.
