
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received here on Wednesday with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer. During the meeting, Maurer expressed his thanks and gratitude for the contributions of the Kuwaiti government aimed at the alleviation of human suffering experienced by the Syrian people represented in the financial grant amounting to USD 25 million earmarked for the ICRC. He pointed out that this grant is part of a total grant of USD 300 million announced by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah during the international donors' conference to support the humanitarian situation in Syria, which was hosted by Kuwait in January 2013. The two sides also discussed ways to support the activities of the ICRC as part of its role in many regions of conflict and natural disasters in the world.
