Kuwait Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said Wednesday Syrian neighboring countries should help the Syrian refugees who fled from the fighting from their country. At a joint news conference with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the close of the International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria, Sheikh Sabah said the consequences of the Syrian crisis was not only affecting the neighboring countries but the entire region and the world. “The neighboring countries should help the Syrian refugees and displaced who were seeking security and safety they lacked in their country,” he said, according to the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA. “The solidarity of the countries we have seen today during Kuwait’s conference is the solidarity of the international community to helping the Syrian people,” he said. Countries and organizations taking part in the International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria have pledged over USD 1.5 billion for the first six months this year. Sheikh Sabah said there should also be a political solution for the almost two-year-old conflict that would honor aspirations of the Syrian people.
