
Amiri Diwan Advisor and Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Dr Abdullah Matouq al-Matouq met with Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah to discuss humanitarian issues of importance to both the UN and the Kingdom. Al-Matouq told KUNA on Tuesday he discussed with the deputy minister, Saudi's USD 300 million pledge made during the donors' conference held in Kuwait last January to support victims of the Syrian conflict. Al-Matoug said Prince Abdulaziz assured him that riyadh is willing to fullfil this pledge by giving various aid to Syrian refugees in nearby countries. The two sides also discussed giving aid to Yemen to help its refugees and foreign migrants, and cooperation between the UN and the Saudi government regarding this matter, said Al-Matouq. The adviser also discussed with the Prince the UN's demand to open a coordination bureau for humanitarian affairs in Saudi Arabia, which the Saudi government has initially agreed on.
