Kuwaiti envoy discusses cooperation with mayor of Rome

Kuwaiti Ambassador to Italy Sheikh Ali Khalid Al-Jaber Al-Sabah discussed with Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino ways and means of boosting bilateral ties, with a special focus on the cultural, scientific, medical and touristic sides, a statement by the Kuwaiti Embassy in Rome said Saturday. The statement noted that the meeting took place at the historical "Piazza del Campidoglio" Palace in the city of Rome. The meeting was attended by the Italian ministers of culture and international affairs. Marino welcomed the Kuwaiti diplomat and lauded his efforts for boosting bilateral relations at all levels. He noted that the significance of this meeting relies on two factors: cultural and academic. On the cultural level, the mayor expressed wishes to exchange cultural experiences with the State of Kuwait. Rome has been a cultural hub for many decades; it embraces more than 400 museums and it is enlisted among the UNESCO's world heritage cities; therefore, it would be an excellent opportunity to diversify the cultural experience in Rome by hosting an exhibition on artistic artifacts from Kuwaiti's Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyya. He also expressed willingness to hold a roman heritage exhibition in Kuwait to familiarize the Kuwaiti public with the Italian history; a means to further promote bilateral ties and encourage tourism to Italy. On the academic level, meanwhile, the Italian Mayor stressed his desire to welcome Kuwaiti students and researchers, especially in the health and medical fields, to study in Rome's prestigious universities and health centers. On his part, the Kuwaiti envoy extended an invitation to the Mayor of Rome to visit the State of Kuwait in the foreseeable future to discuss other facets of cooperation.
