A Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation, currently on a visit to the Philippines, has held a series of meetings with ranking officials addressing ties, labor and business affairs of common interest, said the head of the Seventh Parliamentary Committee. In a telephone statement, MP Adnan Al-Mutawaa told KUNA that the officials in the Philippines briefed the Kuwaiti visitors about currently available investment opportunities, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, food, infrastructure, oil, gas and petrochemicals. The Kuwaiti delegation had held talks with the parliament speaker, the foreign minister, the chairperson of the foreign affairs committee of the senate and the vice president, as well as eminent entrepreneurs with whom the talks dealt with plans for increasing joint investments and enhancing cooperation with Kuwait Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The discussions dealt with issues concerning the 170,000 Filipino workers serving in Kuwait, said the MP Al-Mutawaa, adding that the Filipino officials expressed satisfaction at Kuwait's understanding of the new terms, stipulated by the laws in the Philippines, regarding the workers abroad. For his part, the Kuwaiti lawmaker, Hassan Johar, praised the delegation mission in the Philippines, noting that Kuwait "understands the conditions placed by the Philippines' government regarding the rights of its workers abroad."
