Kuwaiti lawyers to visit the Netherlands

The Board of Directors of the Kuwait Lawyers Association Monday begins a visit to international courts and organizations affiliated to the United Nations in The Hague, as well as to the Dutch Union of Lawyers and law and training centers in the Netherlands with aim to strengthen cooperation with these organizations.
Tareq Al-Shumaimri, Counsellor at Embassy of Kuwait in The Hague and Executive Board observer at the Permanent Court of Arbitration, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the visit has been coordinated by the Kuwait Embassy which is keen to see that program covers the requirements and interests of Kuwait Lawyers Association and achieve the desired results.
Al-Shumaimri stressed the importance of the visit saying it comes within the framework of the distinguished relations between the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with more than 50 years of political and trade cooperation.
He noted that cooperation has been flourishing between Kuwait and the courts and international organizations in The Hague to which Kuwait has memberships and positions since a long time.
The visit of the lawyers begins on Monday and ends on Friday and includes a visit to the Dutch Union of Lawyers, the International Court of Justice, the Permanent Arbitration Court of Justice, Organization for Prevention of Chemical Weapons, the International Criminal Court, the University of Leiden and The Hague Academy of Law.
Al-Shumaimri stressed that this visit was preceded by a visit of Kuwaiti Minister of Justice and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub al Sanee to The Hague last week as well as the visit of a delegation from the Kuwaiti Judicial Council a few months ago which have contributed to increased cooperation between the international judicial organization and Kuwait.
