Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has discussed in a telephone conversation with his Italian counterpart Paoli Gentiloni the assistance to sides in the Libyan conflict, TASS quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying on Friday.
"The foreign ministers of the two countries discussed separate issues on Russian-Italian agenda. They also touched upon pressing international issues, in particular the situation in Libya and upcoming multilateral contacts on assisting Libyan sides in the settlement," the statement said.
Libya is split after popular uprisings in February 2011 led to war that resulted in the overthrow and death of Muammar Gaddafi.
