U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday discussed with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov bilateral ties, the political developments in Syria and a number of international issues.
Kerry highlighted at the beginning of the meeting the importance of cooperation between the two countries to solve the Syrian crisis.
For his part, Lavrov stressed the significance of cooperation between the two countries, which, he added, led to success on the Syrian front.
"Spoke at length today with FM Lavrov about Syria and Ukraine. Productive dialogue with important partner," Kerry said via his Twitter account.
Russian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said talks between Lavrov and Kerry extended for four hours and discussed bilateral relations, the Syrian issue, and the Ukrainian crisis among other international issues.
