LAX shooting suspect shot by police, FBI takes over investigation

The suspected gunman at Los Angeles International Airport used an assault rifle from his carry-on bag to shoot his way past the security screeners, according to airport police on Friday, cited by reports here. The suspect was then engaged by law enforcement and shot. He remains in their custody. Authorities believe the incident was confined only to Terminal 3, and that the gunman worked alone. No details were provided on any of the victims, including the TSA agent that eyewitness reports suggested was covered in blood. The FBI will now be handling the investigation. Flights are landing at LAX, but only in certain areas. Others are being diverted to the airport in Ontario, California.
