Lebanese FM: Military aid for army should boost capabilities

Military aid to the Lebanon's army should contribute to boosting its capabilities to turn it into a military deterrent force as part of a national defense plan, the country's foreign minister has said. In statements on Saturday, Adnan Mansour said that he doubted that his country would be permitted to have anti-craft missiles. In his remarks, the top Lebanese diplomat praised Saudi Arabia for its generous donations to support the country's army. Early reports have said the Saudi Arabia donated dlrs 3 billion to Lebanon to buy weapons. The reports said that Arabia's aid to Lebanon is a huge windfall for Lebanon's armed forces which has long been poorly equipped and underfunded, especially in comparison to the other military force in the country, Hezbollah.
