Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati met today with British Foreign Secretary William Hague who is currently visiting Lebanon. In a statement after the meeting Mikati expressed the hope that Britain would exert further efforts to urge Arab and foreign countries to support Lebanon to face the issue of displaced Syrians and also hoped that Britain would help Lebanon to develop the capacities of the Lebanese army. For his part, Haig said the stability of Lebanon is essential for Britain, stressing his country’s commitment to making every effort to support Lebanon’s stability. He added that Britain work to support the Lebanese army. Hague also underlined Britain’s support for Lebanon with regard to relief to the displaced Syrians.
