Legislative and legal affairs committee convenes in Bahrain

Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee at the Council of Representatives held a meeting today, under the chairmanship of MP Ali Al-Atish and in the presence of the committee’s members. The committee discussed and approved a draft law on establishing the National institution for Human Rights(NIHR) accompanying Decree 2/2014, the proposed law on adding a new article to the Legislative Decree 11/1987 stipulating the issuance of the deficit law, and the proposed law on adding new funds to the general state budget for the fiscal year 2014. The committee reviewed a draft law amending some provisions of draft law 26/2005 on political associations and decided to continue discussing it in the coming meetings. The panel discussed and approved a draft law on conflicting interests and decided to submit it to the council's Bureau. It decided to reject a proposed law amending Article 21 of Legislative Decree 48 /2010 on civil service, which prohibited public sector employees from working after official working hours.
