Libyan border crossings with Egypt will be opened on Sunday, said Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan on Friday. Zeidan who has been in Egypt on an official visit for two days met the mayors and the sect leaders in Mersa Matruh city in the north of Egypt. "We had to close the border crossings with Libya due to border security, weapons and illicit drugs smuggling. Border crossings will be reopened after ensuring border safety," said Zeidan. Libya had closed all the border gates with Egypt and introduced visa requirements to the Egyptians. Closing the border crossings had caused serious tension at the Es-Sellum border gate on the Libya-Egpyt border. Stopping of the cargo trucks from Egypt to Libya had caused the region's economy to suffer a loss of 74 million dollars.
