Madison police officer fatally shoots man, sparking protests

A man was shot and killed by a Madison, Wisconsin, police officer after a struggle inside an apartment, sparking demonstrations after his death, ABC News reported.
The 19-year-old man, identified by his grandmother as Tony Robinson, was jumping in and out of traffic on Friday night and allegedly responsible for a recent battery, Madison Police Chief Mike Koval said. Police have not confirmed his name.
After the man's death, demonstrations condemning the shooting began. A crowd gathered where the shooting happened and then left. Some people then headed to the downtown building that houses the Madison Police Department's Central District offices.
Mayor Paul Soglin called it "a tragedy beyond description," according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
"I expect there will be a lot of anger and frustrations, particularly from friends," Soglin said. "I hope as the pain eases that something constructive will come of this."
