
Visiting Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab conferred on Wednesday with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on means of bolstering friendly ties between the two countries as well as coordinating political stances.
Minister of Trade and Industry Munir Fakhri Abdel Nour and Egyptian Ambassador in Paris attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Mahlab praised historical relations binding the two countries, noting that Egypt is seeking to win the backing of France inside the European Union and the international fora to understand the democratic changes and security conditions in Egypt and support it in its fight against terrorism.
The premier also praised the French participation in Egypt Economic Development Conference held in Sharm El Sheikh as a number of French companies took part to set up various projects in the infrastructure, energy and engineering fields.
Mahlab reviewed potentials of setting up investments in Egypt during his meeting with the Egyptian-French Business Council earlier in the day.
He also highlighted the role of Azhar in combating extremism and terror organizations and spreading the moderate values of Islam.
The French top diplomat on his part welcomed the Egyptian premier's proposals, especially beefing up cooperation in various domains, mainly tourism.
The two sides agreed on coordinating international efforts to work out a solution to the Palestinian issue based on the previous reached agreements and terms of reference.
