Mahlab opens new compound of Egypt's embassy in Guinea

Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab on Monday opened the new compound of Egypt's embassy in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea.

The new compound covers an area of 6,000 square meters in one of the most upscale district in Malabi.

The site was finalized in a record time that did not exceed six months upon assignments from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

During the inauguration ceremony, Mahlab raised the Egyptian flag and opened the new compound which comprises four buildings. He also unveiled the memorial plaque at the compound.

Earlier in the day, Mahlab arrived in Malabo on a two-day visit.

He will convey a message from President Abdel Fatah El Sisi to President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo on the bilateral relations and an invitation to attend the planned inauguration of the new Suez Canal.

Mahlab will have talks with senior officials in Equatorial Guinea on ways of boosting the bilateral ties and cooperation on the African issues.

He will take part in an international conference on Ebola.
