
The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council on Friday mourned the mainland tourist who was killed in a bus accident in Pingtung County in southern Taiwan on Thursday.
Fan Liqing, a spokesperson with the office told a press conference on Friday that the office also extended sympathy to the 15 mainland tourists who were injured in the accident.
According to local firefighters, the bus carrying 18 people overturned on a road in the county on Thursday afternoon.
Fan said the office, the mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits and national tourism administration urged the Taiwan authorities to do their utmost to treat the injured and appropriately handle the settlement of insurance claims.
