A major road accident in the east of Vladimir Region, some 200 km to the east of Moscow, took away eight lives shortly after zero hours Tuesday. “The accident occurred at 00:15 at the 139th kilometer of the M7 Volga federal road near the township of Boldino,” a spokesman for the Vladimir region branch of the Ministry for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense /EMERCOM/ told Itar-Tass. “It was caused by a gross encroachment on road safety rules,” he said. “A Mitsubishi Pajero car collided with a Volvo truck and a Gazel lorry after one of the cars had veered off into the oncoming lane.” “The collision sparked off a fire,” the spokesman said. At the time of reporting, identification of the victims was in progress but their bodies had severe burns. Firefighters and police detectives are also working at the site of the tragedy.
