Majority of Republican voters believe Trump will win nomination

A majority of Republican voters believe that the New York real estate mogul Donald Trump, a controversial figure who is now leading the Republican presidential campaign, will be the party's presidential nominee, a new poll said Friday.

According to the latest Rasmussen poll, some 57 percent of Republican voters say that Trump is likely to win the nomination, more than double the ratio two months ago when the businessman officially launched his campaign.

Meanwhile, only 15 percent of Republican voters regard a Trump nomination as "not at all likely," down by 14 percent in comparison with that for the same period of time.

Among all likely voters, the poll found that 49 percent think Trump is likely win the party's nomination.

Two months into his announcement of a race to the White House, Trump has drawn fierce criticism among presidential candidates from both parties over his blistering remarks about illegal immigration.

However, a new CNN/ORC poll found earlier this week that Trump is holding on his top position among the crowded Republican presidential field by a wide margin and has won the party's trust on top issues more than any other candidates
