Malaysia has reiterated its call for the United Nation's Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities, in line with the UN Charter, towards finding a just and fair resolution to the question of Palestine.
The Malaysian Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) in a statement in conjunction with United Nation's Day said this was because it has remained the longest-lasting conflict in the UN's history, according to (Bernama) news agency.
"In addition, Malaysia will continue to support and commit to efforts by the Security Council and the UN as a whole in countering terrorism, which currently poses a grave threat to international peace and security," the ministry said in the statement.
"Since 1960, Malaysia has and will continue to participate actively in UN peacekeeping missions, which is an international mechanism for the preservation of international peace and security," the statement said.
Malaysia joins the other 192 United Nations Member States in celebrating the United Nations Day today, Oct 24, 2016. The United Nations Day is celebrated annually on this date to mark the anniversary of the entry into force of the Charter of the United Nations in 1945.
Malaysia is firmly committed to the United Nations as an international organisation that promotes cooperation in the maintenance of international peace and security, development and human rights, which are the three pillars of the Organisation.
