Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said that "The recent terrorist operations and choosing the time and place for the killing of innocent civilians, should attract the attention of all citizens of the nature of the planned scheme for their country, their security, their future and their peaceful and brotherly coexistence." He said in a press statement issued by his office: "We do not consider the murderous terrorists, who committed their heinous crimes more dangerous to the security of Iraq and Iraqi lives, than the sectarian voices that echo here and there and being unfortunately supported, organized and fed from political parties both internal and external." He continued: "the terrorist bombings that occurred today, in a number of areas of Baghdad are practical application for the calls of incitement and hatred, and to push others to do similar actions to complete their malignant criminal plan". Maliki added: "Everyone should know that the instigators are not looking an interest for a certain sect or party, but they pretended and shed crocodile tears, they do not care only their own interests and the interests of their masters." He called on all political forces, intellectuals and civil society organizations, clans' chiefs and citizens, to "close ranks and unite," stressing the need to cooperate with the security services and to move forcefully to stop, what he called, a wave of incitement. He continued: "It is the time to the inciting and sectarian voices to be silenced and it is the time for reason and moderated and national unity voices to be above all other voices. ' Maliki urged the armed forces to " not to be hesitate to strike the terrorism and pursue and follow whose who instigate it," calling on the media to be responsible and professional and not to allow the sectarian and violence or racism's instigators to emerge and not to give them a chance to broadcast strife through the media to achieve their malignant goals from any party whatsoever and any trend they belong. He also called for state agencies to act decisively to rein any action or say encouraging to do so. It is mentioned that 18 people were killed and 90 others wounded due to a series of bombings by seven car bombs hit many parts of the capital, Baghdad today
