Man detained for crashing into US Capitol's south barricade

A driver was detained by U.S. Capitol Police Friday morning after he crashed his car into the south barricade of the Capitol building.
The driver, identified as Antonio Pierorazio, was in police custody and under investigation, local media reported.
The police indicated that Pierorazio crashed into the south barricade at high speed and appeared to be "imbalanced." The south barricade of the U.S. Capitol and its immediate surrounding areas were closed.
The vehicle did not enter the Capitol's secure perimeter, and there was no indication that the driver posed a boarder security threat, the reports said.
