Mandela in critical condition

South African President Jacob Zuma said Monday that the health state of former president Nelson Mandela remains critical. Mandela was admitted to a hospital on June 8 with a lung infection. Mandela, 94, was admitted to a hospital several times due to his lung infection. He had health problems with his lungs since his childhood. Mandela is a towering figure in African and World history. He struggled for five decades and played a key role in ending the apartheid in South Africa. He became the country’s first black President in 1994. He won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 for his efforts in ending the apartheid as well as maintaining the unity of the South African society.
