Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour praised the good relations between the Beirut government and the Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement, and described the movement as one of the central pillars of security in the East Mediterranean state. Speaking to FNA, Mansour called the ties between the Lebanese government and Hezbollah as "good", and stated, "Hezbollah is part of the political structure (in Lebanon) and a member of the Lebanese government and has its own weight." "Hezbollah is active in practice and therefore is a political constituent of this country and a strong shield of resistance against the Zionist enemy," Mansour stated. He pointed to some political groups' call for the disarmament of Hezbollah, and said, "Today the Resistance (Hezbollah) of Lebanon is a fundamental part and pillar of Lebanon's entire security." The minister further underlined the necessity for maintaining vigilance against Israel's continued aggressions against Lebanon. "Israel's aggression has continued for a long time, an aggression which has not come to a halt since the creation of Israel. Therefore, we should always be vigilant against this continued and constant aggression," the minister stated. "This is the resistance which exists now, the same resistance that set the Southern territories free, the same resistance that forced the Israeli enemy to retreat and is today standing beside the Lebanese army and nation to establish security and stability in Southern Lebanon. "Therefore, Resistance is protecting the land of Lebanon," he concluded.
