Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Wednesday called on regional states to be more serious and feel more responsibility towards the Middle East stability and security, saying Iran and Russia should have closer consultations on regional developments and play more effective role in that connection. Speaking with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister for Middle East Affairs, Michael Bagdanov, Mehmanparast also referred to long record of ties between Iran and Russia and their abundant capacity in that field, saying the media can play an influential role in introducing potentials of the two countries to the world. Touching on Iran-Russia stances on the Caspian Sea, Mehmanparast urged the littoral states to draw up a condominium for the sea as soon as possible. Bagdanov for his part said dialogue is the best means of guaranteeing security and stability of the region. The Russian official, urging further expansion of bilateral ties especially in the media affairs, said he would soon pay an official visit to Iran with an aim of bolstering mutual cooperation.
