Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Tuesday criticized the US president for his demand that the downed US spy drone be returned to the United States. Addressing a group of domestic and foreign reporters in his weekly briefing, he said President Obama instead of formally apologizing to Iran for breach of the country's airspace has requested for return of the drone. It seems the US president has forgotten that the spy drone has violated Iran’s airspace for spying, he said. Their action is tantamount to violation of international laws and regulations and interfering in Iran's domestic affairs, Mehmanparast said. Such an illogical act could endanger global peace and security and the Americans should accept its consequences, he said. The US president in a joint press conference with the Iraqi premier called on the Islamic Republic of Iran to give back the downed US drone.
