
Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel is happy to discuss in Moscow with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin the relations between the Russian Federation and the European Union, as well as the situation in Ukraine.
"It is good we have met today in Moscow to discuss our bilateral relations between Russia and the EU, and, of course, the support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine," she said at a meeting with Putin on Sunday, stressing importance of settling existing problems by diplomatic means.
She said Germany from its bitter experience had learned: "We should work, cooperate also in the complicated situations, like the current one, and try to have diplomatic solutions."
Merkel also thanked for the opportunity to honour those who died in the Great Patriotic War.
"It was very important for me to be able to come here, so that on the 70th anniversary of the Victory to honour those people of the then Soviet Union, who died then," she said.
