The insistence of German Chancellor Angela Merkel on President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to Berlin on June 3-4 proves the international status of Egypt to Germany, said the president of the Egyptian Republican People's Party.
In his statement on Saturday, Hazem Omar said such insistence underlined Egypt's international political status, especially after the tours Sisi made abroad and resulted in great international support to Egypt in combating terrorism.
Omar asserted that the position of German parliament speaker didn't reflect his country's official stance towards Egypt.
The politician pointed out that Berlin seeks to boost its ties with Cairo in various fields.
