Minister Delegate for Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel reaffirmed Tuesday in Brussels Algeria’s “effective” solidarity with Mali, particularly in terms of fighting against terrorism and encouragement of an inclusive dialogue between the Malians. He indicated that Algeria’s contribution also comprises its efforts to secure the region, specifying that the decision of closing border with Mali is part of this objective. “The security situation in this border is controlled, although vigilance remains capital,” Messahel underlined in his statement at the ministerial meeting of the support and follow-up group on Mali. “The contribution also arises regarding the last summit of the African Union of the share in the budget of USD 50 million granted to AFISMA and to the support of the Mali’s defense and security forces,” Messahel added.
