A California school was placed on lockdown after a report of a person with a gun that turned out to be a student with a boom microphone, officials said. Police responded to a call at the private San Fernando Valley high school Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. after a mother said she saw a suspicious person near Chaminade College Preparatory School. "There was a report that a male, white, about 18 years old, was seen approaching the school in the parking lot area with some type of object in his hand, possibly a rifle or shotgun. He was dressed in black pants, black top," LAPD Capt. Hearn said. The school was on lockdown for more than three hours, KCBS-TV, Los Angeles, said, while more than 50 officers searched the campus. The lockdown was lifted just after 12:15 p.m. after police determined that the suspicious person was a student.
