
An unarmed MiG-29 (Fulcrum) jet fighter has crashed near the southern Russian city of Astrakhan during training exercises, the Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday.
Russian Defense Ministry press service spokesman said that both pilots were safe, according to Sputnik news agency.
"A MiG-29 crashed at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday during training exercises near the Ashuluk Range in the Astrakhan Region. Both pilots catapulted," he said.
"The flight took place without any armaments and there is no damage on the ground at the crash site," he added.
